my lovely in-laws gave me funds for purchasing a sewing cabinet for christmas. which is good, because i received a sewing machine (which i have requested for years) as a wedding gift way back in september!
the cabinet arrived today, and in the interest of getting the boxes out of the house in time for our party on sunday, DH and i put it together this evening.
of course, we were assisted by jp (i realize i am quickly becoming the person who only blogs about her cat...but in my defense...she gets. into. everything.)
here is the machine, in all it's glory...tape still on and everything...
the base of the sewing machine sits flush with the cabinet top and when i am not using it, it stores itself hydraulically inside...like magic.
bye bye, machine!
now i just have to learn to use it!

Fancy! I love the cat pics...keep 'em coming!
Sewing is easy and fun, just make sure you pick something simple to do first, straight lines are best.
sweet. Now lets see how long before you start sewing everything.
i can hardly wait to get started...i have so many ideas on lovely little things for invitations...fabric wraps, envelopes, pillo-topped boxes!!
Stitched invitations sound delightful. I love the cabinet idea...now you see it; now you don't!
My first sewing project was in 5th grade. My granny made dolls with her machine, and I remember being so excited the first time she let me use it. (Prior to that, I used staples, glue, needle and thread). I remember sitting down at it and drawing a complete blank for something to sew. After messing around for 20 minutes with some scraps, I came down the stairs and proudly announced my project complete. I got several "oh, isn't that nice" but it was obvious they didn't know what I had made. I looked at it again...it looked obvious to me: button eyes, squiggly body, ribbon hanger, and a cape. So I declared my creation loudly: it was a Christmas worm. A cute inch worm to hang on your tree.
I still get teased for it. :)
heh...the question, angel, is...
...do you still hang the worm on the tree? : ^ )
So what's your first sewing project going to be? Any ideas??
Yep! Every year. :D
Of course, I had to pry it out of my mom's hands when I moved out.
Whew! I finally find the sewing cabinet post (I thought it was on weddingbee!). WOuld you mind telling me where the cabinet is from? I'm looking for a machine and this would be perfect to hide it in! TIA!
connie, the sewing cabinet came from joanne fabrics, www.joanne.com.
i believe the actual link is listed here: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat3485&PRODID=prd40037
