to be fair...

...last winter i posted this picture of the lilac tree outside our front window.

this afternoon, the sun finally broke through the clouds and I couldn't resist capturing a picture of what the lilac looks like now.


actually, the picture is more cherry tree blossom than lilac, but you catch my drift. what a difference four and a half months make!

i was so inspired by the pretty afternoon, i headed out to our garden and took some pictures out there of the flowers that we have been watching bloom for the past couple of weeks. some are past their prime, but such is life in a garden.

What a pretty garden! Alas, in Arizona most everything is done blooming and is preparing for our desert summer.

thanks, we inherited the layout of the garden from someone who owned our house a few owners prior to us. it had sadly been neglected. last year we had it completely cleared out so the only things that came up were the peonies and the herbs. then we planted 60 bulbs last fall. i feel so rewarded for that hard work seeing all the pretty colors. and the peonies haven't even bloomed yet!
