Michelle and Chris - A Hamptons Vineyard Affaire

I'm so excited to share this next invitation suite with you as it was for a very special client. My husband's cousin, Michelle, married an incredibly awesome guy, Chris, this past September at Martha Clara Vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island.

The vineyard was so beautiful and rustic and the wedding was delightful. Working on Michelle and Chris' invitations was a joy - not only because they are family, but because their style was so laid back and their vision was so pretty.

We got an early start on the invitation design which allowed us time to send out a coordinating Save-the-Date. Michelle and Chris wanted to work with yellow and gray with pops of navy as their scheme, so I was really excited to suggest this gorgeous yellow and white brocade stock from Envelopments.

We used a flip card to convey the Save the Date information with a calendar and information about their website on the back. They were then shipped out in Goodnight Navy envelopes with coordinating address labels.

When it came time to create the invitation itself, Michelle and Chris wanted to somehow incorporate some photos they had of the venue since it was so beautiful. Michelle was able to provide a photo of the barn on the Vineyard where the reception would be held and from there I created a sketch. The drawing and main text of the invitation was in gray, with their names in contrasting Navy. Mounted on a shimmery navy card, the invitation coordinated well with the RSVP which also had a sketch detail (this time, of wine barrels) and was mounted on the white/yellow brocade card stock.

The entire suite was wrapped up in a yellow and white brocade pocket envelope. The pocket envelope is a great alternative if you are in love with a detailed card stock, but it isn't available in envelopes. With some double-stick tape and a coordinating wrap-around label, we were able to send out a piece that truly stood out from the rest!

Michelle and Chris were a joy to work with and it was an honor to be able to bring their vision to life. Their beautiful wedding was also recently featured over at Well Wed - I hope you'll check it out!

Marta and Al's Vineyard Wedding

I am beyond excited to finally, FINALLY(!!), share this beautiful suite that I designed for Marta and Al's wedding on Martha's Vineyard this past Fall.  It has been over a year since I first shared with you a glimpse of their save-the-date.  Please accept my apologies for taking so long to post these pictures...I rarely post an invitation suite until after the event has passed and it just so happened that our little Ladybug was born shortly thereafter and things have been a bit crazy since then!

But now, without further ado...Marta and Al's Invitation suite - including save-the-date with coordinating envelope; invitation mounted on a pocket enclosure for keeping all of the materials organized; RSVP and coordinating envelope; visitor information card; rehearsal dinner invitation; song recommendation card and thank you cards with coordinating envelopes.

When I first met with Marta in the Fall of 2010, she wasn't entirely sure what she wanted, but she had so much confidence in my work.  (Side note - I will never forget Marta's uncompromising belief in my work and how much it has meant to me)  I had just become a licensed Envelopments dealer...I didn't even have my full showcase with me...just a swatch book!  Thankfully, we keyed in pretty early on focusing on the natural, coastal, relaxed vibe of the beach club venue they had selected for their event.

I immediately thought of the beauty of grasscloth and the texture it could bring to the suite.  Marta knew she was going to carry sunflowers, so from there we had a wonderful jumping off point.

The save-the-date was mounted on a shimmery, navy card stock to give the piece a bit of a surprise element.  We both really loved the selection of fonts that Envelopments had used in one of their sample pieces and we opted to use that as well as the general design of their names across the pieces.  The save the date was off-set print with exact color matching to the layering piece and the contrasting 'Kelp' envelope.

The wide band of horizontally aligned grasscloth truly makes this invitation unique.

The invitation was mounted on a matte blue, pocket card that allowed for all of the inserts to be tucked tidily in the back.  The RSVP was mounted on the same shimmery blue card stock as the original save-the-date.  All of the pieces in the invitation suite were printed using thermography, which is a slightly raised printing technique that can also be perfectly matched to specific colors.

This invitation suite was such a fun, inspiring project to work on and I loved working with Marta and Al on all of the details.  The end result was such a beautiful surprise for their guests to discover when they opened their invitations.  I have always loved including textural pieces in my designs as I feel they add another sensory element to the design.  Turns out I have been ahead of the curve all this time as Envelopments has recently incorporated more textural pieces in their line, naming texture as an emerging trend!!

You can see more of this beautiful wedding over at WellWed on the Cape...and as always, I invite you to check out my portfolio at limoncellostyle.com.

Thanks for letting me share and many thanks to Marta and Al for their amazing inspiration!!
